Find keyword ideas with KWFinder

Type a keyword, choose a location and a language, and select Find keywords.

Written by Dev + MKT

Type a keyword, choose a location and a language, and select Find keywords. KWFinder lists related keywords with their search volume, Keyword Difficulty (KD) and other data. Each search uses one keyword lookup from your plan.

Run a keyword search

  1. Open KWFinder and choose the Search by Keyword tab. On smaller screens it is called By Keyword.

  2. Type a keyword, for example seo agency.

  3. Choose the location your audience is in.

  4. Choose the language they search in.

  5. Select Find keywords.

The list on the left shows the keyword ideas. The panel on the right shows the Google search engine results page (SERP) and the KD of the keyword you searched. Click another keyword in the list to load its SERP and KD.

Which keywords can you search for?

A keyword in KWFinder must be 2 to 80 characters long, with 10 words at most. If it is not, KWFinder does not run the search and shows a red message under the box: "Keyword should be 2 to 80 characters long with maximum of 10 words. It can contain only letters and following special characters: &,#,$".

KWFinder changes what you type to lower case.

Choose the location

The location box in KWFinder starts on Anywhere. When you open it, it shows a short list: Anywhere, United States, Germany, United Kingdom, Spain and France.

For any other place, type in the box. KWFinder searches countries, states, regions, cities and neighborhoods as you type. It groups the results under a two-letter country code, such as DE or US.

Anywhere means no particular location. Choose a country or a city when your audience is in one place, because search volume and results depend on location.

Your country or city is not in the list

The location list in KWFinder shows only a few places until you type. Start typing the name of the country or city, and it appears. The hint "+52k other places, just use search" at the bottom of the list means the same thing.

A search by domain works differently. Its location list is fixed: about 90 countries and regions, and no cities.

Choose the language

The language list in KWFinder has 43 languages plus Any Language, which is selected when you start. Choose the language your audience types their searches in. The language box appears only in Search by Keyword.

Related, Autocomplete and Questions

After a search, three buttons above the list switch between three kinds of keyword ideas:

  • Related keywords: related keywords from Mangools, sorted by how close they are to your keyword. This is the default. On some screen widths, the button reads Related kws or Related.

  • Autocomplete: the searches Google suggests as people type your keyword.

  • Questions: questions people ask that contain your keyword.

Autocomplete and Questions ask Google for ideas directly from your browser. A VPN or an ad blocker can stop them. If they show an error, see KWFinder shows no results: 'processing', errors and limit messages.

How many keyword ideas does each search show?

In KWFinder, the number of keyword suggestions per search depends on your plan. Basic shows up to 200 for each search, and AI Search Watcher Pro up to 15.

For Premium and Agency, Mangools publishes no fixed number. The pricing cards show "Unlimited*" for keyword suggestions, and the account menu, which calls them Related keywords, shows ∞.

When a search finds more keyword ideas than your plan shows, the list stops at your plan's number. An Unlock more keywords button appears under it. On Free+, for example, the list stops at 25.

What a search uses from your plan

Each KWFinder search uses one keyword lookup. Basic includes 100 keyword lookups per 24 hours, Premium 500 and Agency 1,200.

A search also loads the SERP and KD of the keyword you searched, which uses one SERP lookup. Clicking another keyword to see its SERP and KD uses a SERP lookup too. Clicking a keyword you already opened in the same results uses nothing.

The Autocomplete and Questions lists use one more keyword lookup each, the first time you open them for a search. Going back to Related keywords uses nothing.

To see what you have left, open the account menu from your avatar at the top right of KWFinder. How lookups and limits work, and when they reset explains each counter.

Restart the guided tour

KWFinder has a short interactive tour of the main screen. To see it again, open the Help menu at the top right and, under Interactive walkthroughs, select Find keywords ideas.
