How lookups and limits work, and when they reset

Mangools has two kinds of limit.

Written by Dev + MKT

Mangools has two kinds of limit. Lookups are counted per 24 hours, and backlink rows per month: they come back on their own. Tracked keywords, AI Search Watcher prompts and monitors are running totals: they come back only when you delete something. The account menu shows what is left of each lookup counter and when it resets.

Where to see what you have left

Open the account menu from your avatar at the top right of KWFinder or any other Mangools SEO tool. It shows four bars: keyword lookups, SERP lookups, site lookups and backlink rows.

Each bar shows what is left out of your limit. The line under it shows the time until it resets, for example "2h 15m to reset". "Fully charged" means the counter is full and not counting down.

Backlink rows reset monthly, so their line can show days, for example "12d 4h 30m to reset".

Under the bars, the menu lists the size of your plan's other limits, such as Related keywords and Tracked keywords. In each row, your plan's number is highlighted. These rows show what your plan includes, not what you have used.

AI Search Watcher's account menu has no bars. Its top bar shows how many monitors and prompts you use out of your limit, for example "Usage: 0/1 monitors 0/5 prompts".

Some accounts also see an API & MCP limits section. It counts lookups made through the API or an AI assistant separately from the apps. See Connect Mangools to your AI assistant (MCP server).

When do lookups reset?

Keyword lookups, SERP lookups and site lookups reset every 24 hours. While a counter is counting down, the account menu shows the time left until it resets. The 24 hours start with your first lookup of that kind. Later lookups do not move the reset time.

Backlink rows reset once a month, not every 24 hours.

What uses a keyword lookup?

A keyword lookup is one KWFinder search: each time you press the search button, by keyword or by domain. Basic includes 100 keyword lookups per 24 hours, Premium 500 and Agency 1,200. The pricing card calls this limit "Keyword research".

Above the results, the Autocomplete and Questions lists use one more keyword lookup each, the first time you open them for a search. Going back to Related keywords uses nothing.

An import also uses one keyword lookup, like a search.

What uses a SERP lookup?

A SERP lookup is one SERPChecker search. Basic includes 100 SERP lookups per 24 hours, Premium 500 and Agency 1,200.

In KWFinder, selecting a keyword loads its Google results and its Keyword Difficulty (KD), and that uses a SERP lookup. A search selects its first keyword for you. So one KWFinder search uses one keyword lookup and one SERP lookup. Selecting a keyword you already opened in the same results uses nothing.

In SERPChecker, Load more results loads the next page of Google results and uses one more SERP lookup. Refetch SERP loads a new copy of the results and also uses one. A SERPChecker search uses its own SERP lookup, even for a keyword you just opened in KWFinder.

A keyword's KD counts as up to date for 30 days. After that, KWFinder shows it faded, and selecting the keyword fetches a new one.

What uses a site lookup?

A site lookup is one website or URL you analyze in SiteProfiler. Basic includes 20 site lookups per 24 hours, Premium 70 and Agency 150.

How are backlink rows counted?

Backlink rows are the backlinks you load in LinkMiner, counted per month. Basic includes 100,000 backlink rows per month, Premium 500,000 and Agency 1,200,000.

In LinkMiner, each backlink in your results uses one backlink row. A search that loads 394 backlinks uses about 400 rows.

A bulk export from LinkMiner's Export page uses backlink rows too. See Export backlinks from LinkMiner.

Tracked keywords, prompts and monitors

SERPWatcher tracked keywords and AI Search Watcher prompts and monitors are not reset on a timer. They count what you have set up right now. Deleting a keyword, a prompt or a monitor makes room for a new one.

In SERPWatcher, each keyword counts once per location and once per device. See How tracked keywords are counted and AI Search Watcher limits: monitors and prompts.

Do failed searches use a lookup?

A search stopped for being too fast does not use anything. You see it as "Too many requests" or "You're sending requests too fast". When an import fails with "Your credits were not used.", nothing is used either.

If another failed search used a lookup, contact us through the live chat or at [email protected]. Send the keyword and the time.

Other allowances in your plan

Some features have small allowances of their own that the account menu does not show. Examples are comparing your own URL in SERPChecker, adjusting KD for your URL in KWFinder, and the free SEO tools. When one of them runs out, most tools say you have reached your search limit. Some free tools word it differently. Mangools free SEO tools and their limits lists each message.
