Import keywords in bulk

KWFinder's Import page gets search volume, Keyword Difficulty (KD) and other data for your own list of keywords.

KWFinder's Import page gets search volume, Keyword Difficulty (KD) and other data for your own list of keywords. Upload a .csv or .txt file, or type the keywords, choose a location, and select Process keywords. One import takes up to 200 keywords on Basic. On every plan, the import maximum is the same number as your keyword suggestions per search.

Import your keywords

  1. In KWFinder, select Import in the top menu.

  2. Drop a .csv or .txt file on the page, or select Choose a file. You can also type keywords: press Tab or Enter after each one.

  3. Under Select location, choose the location for the search volumes.

  4. Select Process keywords.

When the import is done, KWFinder lists your keywords with their data, and loads the results page of the first keyword.

How to prepare the file

  • A .txt file: one keyword per line, or keywords separated by commas.

  • A .csv file: one keyword per row, in the first column. KWFinder reads only the first value on each line, up to the first comma, semicolon or tab.

Other file types show "You can only import .csv or .txt files." If you export a list from a spreadsheet, save it as CSV with the keywords in column A.

What KWFinder changes in your list

KWFinder changes every keyword to lower case, removes spaces at the start and end, and shortens keywords to 80 characters. It removes duplicate keywords and keywords shorter than 2 characters. It then says how many it removed, for example "We've automatically removed 1 keyword that was either too short or duplicate."

Keywords with characters KWFinder does not support are highlighted in yellow. KWFinder adjusts them during the import.

How many keywords can one import have?

One import takes up to 200 keywords on Basic, and up to 15 on AI Search Watcher Pro. The import maximum is the same number as your plan's keyword suggestions per search. The account menu calls that limit "Related keywords".

On Premium and Agency, the pricing cards show keyword suggestions as "Unlimited*", and Mangools publishes no fixed import maximum. The counter on the Import page shows the maximum for your account.

A counter next to "...or write the keywords" shows how many keywords you have and your maximum, for example [3 / 25]. The counter turns red when you reach the maximum. Over the maximum, KWFinder says "You can only import" and the number, and processes only the first keywords up to that number. Split a longer list into several imports.

Choose the location

The location applies to every keyword in the import, and changes the search volumes. An import has no language setting. To compare two markets, import the same list twice with different locations.

What an import uses from your plan

An import uses one keyword lookup, the same as a KWFinder search. KWFinder then opens the first keyword's SERP, which uses one SERP lookup. If you already opened that keyword's SERP in the last 24 hours, it uses no SERP lookup. Basic includes 100 keyword lookups per 24 hours, Premium 500 and Agency 1,200.

If the import fails with "There was an error while fetching Google data. Your credits were not used.", nothing was taken from your limits. Try again later.

Messages you may see

  • Process keywords cannot be selected until there is at least one keyword. Hover over it and it says "Enter the keywords first".

  • "You're importing keywords too fast": wait the number of seconds it shows, then try again.

  • "You've used all of your searches": your lookups are used up for now. Wait for the counters to reset, or see Out of limits? Your options.

  • "Your plan has expired" instead of the import form: you are signed out, or your account has no active plan. Sign in again, or select Upgrade my plan to choose a plan.
