The Search column in KWFinder shows a keyword's average monthly search volume, rounded. By default it is the average of the 12 newest monthly values KWFinder has. You can switch it to the last 12, 6 or 3 months, and the number changes with the period you choose.
Change the search volume timeframe
Hover over the Search column header and choose one of four periods:
Last known: the average of the 12 newest monthly values KWFinder has. This is the default.
Last 12 mo.: a 12-month average that comes ready-made with the keyword's data. KWFinder does not calculate it from the monthly values, so it can differ from Last known.
Last 6 mo. and Last 3 mo.: the average of the months KWFinder has data for within the last 6 or 3 full calendar months. If the newest month is not in KWFinder yet, the average covers fewer months than the name says.
For example, on 5 October 2026 Last 3 mo. covered July to September. September was not in KWFinder yet, so the number was the average of July and August.
KWFinder confirms your choice with a message such as "Average monthly search volume timeframe has been set to last 6 months." It remembers the choice in this browser for next time. The Search Volume figure in the right panel follows the same timeframe.
A longer period shows seasonality better. A shorter one shows recent changes.
In a search by domain, the Search column has no timeframe menu. It shows the average monthly search volume at the time KWFinder calculated the estimated traffic. Hover over the number to see the current value.
Why the search volume is rounded
KWFinder rounds search volume averages down. For example, an average of 345 shows as 340, 1,234 as 1,200, and 45,678 as 45,600. Any average under 10 shows as 10.
In the list, KWFinder shortens thousands, so 28,700 shows as 28.7k. Two keywords with slightly different real volumes can show the same number.
What "N/A" means for search volume
In KWFinder, N/A means there is no search volume for the keyword in the selected period. It appears in the Search Volume figure in the right panel, in place of 0. In the list, the Search column shows 0 for the same keyword.
Search volume is N/A when the months in the period have no recorded searches, or when KWFinder has no monthly data inside the period. A missing newest month alone does not cause it: a short period averages the months it has.
A short period (Last 3 mo., Last 6 mo.) can show N/A while Last known shows a number. Last known averages the 12 newest months KWFinder has, however old they are. Switch to Last known, and check the Monthly Searches chart for the months KWFinder has.
Why the most recent months are missing
KWFinder gets each month's search volume at the end of the following month, sometimes sooner. So September's numbers appear by early November at the latest. On 6 October 2026, for example, the newest month in KWFinder was August.
The Monthly Searches chart in the right panel shows which months are in KWFinder. Last known averages the 12 newest of them.
The search volume looks a year old
For some keywords, newer data is not available, and KWFinder shows the latest data it has. This happens when the data provider stops supplying data for a keyword. It is rare, and it most often affects keywords on sensitive topics. Check the Monthly Searches chart to see which months the number is based on.
For such a keyword, Last 6 mo. and Last 3 mo. have no data to average, so the right panel shows N/A for them.
Where does KWFinder's search volume come from?
Mangools gets search volume from several data providers and processes it before KWFinder shows it. The result is one number per month for each keyword, location and language, which the Monthly Searches chart shows.
Why the search volume differs from Google Keyword Planner or other tools
Before you compare two numbers, check that both use the same location, the same language and the same period. KWFinder's default, Last known, is not the same as a fixed 12 months, and KWFinder rounds its averages. A difference in any of these changes the number. Each tool also has its own data sources and processing, so two tools rarely show the same number even with the same settings.
The period alone can move the number. For one keyword, KWFinder showed 28.7k under Last known and 30.3k under Last 12 mo.
What the Trend column shows
The Trend column draws the keyword's search volume over the last 12 months. Its percentage is Keyword Interest Growth: the change in average search volume for a recent three-month period, compared with the same months a year earlier. Hover over the column header to see which months it uses.
In the right panel, Monthly Searches shows the search volume month by month, and Trends shows the keyword's relative popularity in Google Trends. When Google Trends has no data for the keyword, it says "Google trend data are not available."
