Edit, delete and restore trackings and keywords

In SERPWatcher, you can change a tracking's domain and its Google Business listing, but not its location or device.

In SERPWatcher, you can change a tracking's domain and its Google Business listing, but not its location or device. A deleted tracking can be restored from the trackings list for 7 days. After that, it is deleted forever with its history. Deleted keywords can be restored from inside the tracking.

Edit a tracking

  1. Open the tracking, or find its card in the trackings list.

  2. Open the three-dot menu and select Edit tracking. The window "Change tracking details" opens.

  3. Change New tracking domain, New Google My Business listing name, or both.

  4. Select Edit tracking.

The window says: "After the domain change, you'll see the updated ranking data tomorrow. All your historic ranking data will stay unchanged." SERPWatcher also adds a note to the tracking's chart on that day.

Desktop and mobile are separate trackings. If you track both, the window reminds you, for example: "The mobile tracking has to be updated separately."

Change a tracking's location or device

A SERPWatcher tracking's location and device cannot be edited. To track another location or device, create a new tracking from the existing one:

  • Another location: in the tracking's three-dot menu, select Duplicate tracking. SERPWatcher opens a new tracking with the same domain, location, device and keywords filled in. Change the location, then start it.

  • The other device: on the tracking's card, select the second tab, Mobile or Desktop, which is marked with a plus. Then select Yes, clone tracking. See How tracked keywords are counted: locations, desktop and mobile.

If your plan has no tracking left, Duplicate tracking shows "You've reached the limit of tracked domains or keywords." instead. Free+ includes 1 tracked domain.

The new tracking uses tracked keywords again. If you no longer need the old one, delete it afterwards.

Delete a tracking

  1. In the tracking's three-dot menu, select Delete tracking.

  2. SERPWatcher asks "Delete tracking?" and names the domain, location and device. Select Yes, delete tracking.

SERPWatcher shows "Tracking" followed by the domain and "was successfully deleted." The tracking's keywords stop counting toward your tracked keywords. Its share link stops working.

If you track a website on both desktop and mobile, these are two trackings. Deleting one leaves the other. Open the other device's tab on the card and delete it the same way.

Restore a deleted tracking

  1. Go to Trackings.

  2. Open the three-dot menu next to "Search for trackings..." and select Show deleted trackings.

  3. On the deleted tracking's card, marked "DELETED", select Restore this tracking.

The SERPWatcher Trackings page with deleted trackings shown: the banner Deleted trackings will be deleted forever after 7 days and a deleted tracking card with Restore this tracking.

While deleted trackings are shown, a banner says "Deleted trackings will be deleted forever after 7 days". After that, a deleted tracking and its history cannot be restored. To hide the deleted trackings again, select Hide deleted trackings in the same menu.

If you created a new tracking with the same domain, location and device in the meantime, SERPWatcher shows "Tracking already exists" instead of restoring.

Delete keywords from a tracking

  1. In the tracking, tick the keywords you want to delete.

  2. Select the trash icon under the keyword table.

  3. SERPWatcher asks "Delete keyword(s)?" with the number of keywords. Select Yes, delete keyword(s).

You can also delete one keyword from its details. Deleted keywords stop counting toward your tracked keywords at once, so you can add others in their place.

Restore deleted keywords

  1. In the tracking's three-dot menu, select Show deleted keywords. The table now lists only deleted keywords.

  2. Tick the keywords to bring back.

  3. Select Restore deleted under the table.

SERPWatcher shows, for example, "3 keywords were successfully restored." Select Hide deleted keywords in the same menu to see the tracking again. If the list says "No deleted keywords in your tracking", there is nothing left to restore.

Restored keywords count toward your tracked keywords again. Check how many you have left before you restore a large number.
