Share a tracking with a link

In SERPWatcher, Share tracking gives you a link to a live, read-only report of one tracking.

In SERPWatcher, Share tracking gives you a link to a live, read-only report of one tracking. Anyone with the link can open it without a Mangools account, and they never see your login. To stop a link working, generate a new one.

Who can open a shared link, and how to revoke it

A SERPWatcher share link works for anyone who has it, with no sign-in. Send it only to people who should see that tracking.

To revoke access, open Share tracking and select Generate new link. SERPWatcher creates a new link and says "New share url for" your domain "has been successfully generated". The old link stops working. Send the new link to the people who should keep access.

There is no setting for an expiry date or a password. A link works until you generate a new one or delete the tracking.

Share a tracking

  1. Open the tracking in SERPWatcher.

  2. Select Share tracking at the top right. The window "Share your tracking" opens.

  3. Check the Report timeframe. To pick other dates, select Change.

  4. Select Copy next to the link, and send it to your client or colleague.

The Share your tracking window, with the Report timeframe and Change, the link field with Copy, Generate new link and Preview report.

To see what the other person will see, select Preview report. The report opens in a new tab.

Each tracking has its own link. A tracking covers one location and one device, so desktop and mobile rankings need two links.

Which dates does the shared report show?

The link contains the exact dates of the Report timeframe, not a moving period. A link copied on 5 October with Last 30 days always opens on 5 September to 4 October.

The person who opens the report can choose other dates in its date picker, including newer ones. To send a report that opens on the latest dates, copy a fresh link.

What can the person with the link do?

A shared SERPWatcher report is titled "Report for" your domain, with the location, the device and the number of tracked keywords. The viewer can:

  • change the dates,

  • filter the keywords,

  • open a keyword to see its details and history.

The viewer cannot add, delete or tag keywords, share the tracking, or change its email reports. The report has none of those buttons.

Do hidden metrics stay hidden in a shared report?

No. The Customization settings (Hide visibility index, Hide performance index and Hide estimated visits) are saved to your account, not to the tracking. They change only what you see. The person who opens your link sees the Performance Index, the Visibility index and Estimated visits, unless they hide them in their own Mangools account. See Performance Index, Visibility index and Estimated visits.

Notes you add to the chart are different. When you write a note, tick Don't show in reports to keep it out of shared reports.

Share under your own brand and domain

With white label turned on, shared reports show your logo, and your company name in the browser tab instead of SERPWatcher. If you also set a custom domain, the link starts with that domain instead of the Mangools address. See White-label reports and a custom domain.

A shared report link stopped working

A SERPWatcher report link shows "Unauthorized" and "We're sorry, you are not authorized to see this tracking's data." when the owner has replaced it with Generate new link. Ask the person who sent the report for the current link.

If the tracking was deleted, the link shows "Sorry, something went wrong" and "Tracking was not found. It was probably deleted." The report is gone. Ask the owner whether they track the website in another tracking.

Sharing a tracking with Mangools support

When you contact us about a SERPWatcher tracking, we may ask for its shareable link. It lets us see the same report you see, without your login. Copy it from Share tracking as above. You can select Generate new link after the issue is solved.

To send rankings by email on a schedule instead, see Email reports and rank alerts.
