LinkMiner shows two sets of numbers. Above the table are metrics for the domain or URL you searched. In the table, each row has metrics for the page that links to it. Citation Flow and Trust Flow are 0 to 100 scores developed by Majestic. Link Strength is a 0 to 100 score for each backlink.
The numbers above the table
Above the backlinks table, LinkMiner shows five metrics for the address you searched:
Citation Flow, out of 100.
Trust Flow, out of 100.
Ref. IPs: how many IP addresses the linking websites use. Many websites can share one IP address.
Ref. domains: how many websites have a backlink pointing to the address.
Active backlinks: how many backlinks point to the address, in Majestic's Fresh Index.
Point at Ref. IPs, Ref. domains or Active backlinks to see the exact number and "Based on data from Majestic's Fresh Index (Crawled in last 4-6 months)". The table can hold more backlinks than Active backlinks shows. Why a backlink is missing, marked deleted or counted differently explains why.
N/A means Majestic has no data for the address. After a path search such as example.com/blog/*, all five show N/A.
What is Citation Flow (CF)?
Citation Flow (CF) is a score from 0 to 100, developed by Majestic. CF is about link quantity: it predicts how influential a URL is from how many sites link to it. In LinkMiner, CF appears above the table for the address you searched, and in the CF column for each linking page.
What is Trust Flow (TF)?
Trust Flow (TF) is a score from 0 to 100, developed by Majestic. TF is about link quality. Sites closely linked to a trusted seed site score higher, and sites with questionable links score lower. In LinkMiner, TF appears above the table and in the TF column.
The columns in the backlinks table
Each row in the LinkMiner table is one backlink: a page that links to the address you searched. Point at a column heading to see its full name. A value LinkMiner does not have shows N/A.
Column | What it shows |
Source URL | The title and address of the linking page, with labels under it |
CF | Citation Flow of the linking page |
TF | Trust Flow of the linking page |
EL | The number of external links on the linking page. Point at it to see external and internal links. |
FB | The number of Facebook shares of the linking page |
WPR | Website Popularity Rank of the linking website |
HREF | The path on the searched site that the backlink points to. Point at it to see the full URL. |
Anchor | The anchor text of the backlink |
LS | Link Strength of the backlink |
Select a heading to sort by that column. Sorting covers only the backlinks loaded so far, 500 at a time.
What is Website Popularity Rank (WPR)?
Website Popularity Rank (WPR) is a global ranking of the 1 million most visited websites. The smaller the number, the more popular the website. In LinkMiner, the WPR column shows the rank of the website a backlink comes from. N/A means the website is not in the ranking.
What is Link Strength (LS)?
Link Strength (LS) is a score from 0 to 100 for each backlink in LinkMiner. The app describes it as the power of a backlink, "considering various factors such as Citation Flow, Trust Flow, Do/NoFollow attributes and other metrics." The score comes ready-made with each backlink. LinkMiner does not show how it is calculated.
The LS number is colored by value:
0 to 14: green
15 to 29: light green
30 to 49: yellow
50 to 69: orange
70 to 100: red
To find the strongest backlinks, sort by LS, or set a minimum Link Strength in the filter. See Filters, favorites and the website preview.
The labels under each source URL
Under each source URL, LinkMiner shows small labels. Point at a label to see its full name.
Label | Meaning |
DF | DoFollow link (green) |
NF | NoFollow link (red) |
DEL | Deleted: the link is recorded as removed from the page. Every backlink on the Lost tab has it. |
301 | Redirect |
IMG | Image link |
MNT | Mention |
FRM | Iframe |
ALT | The link has alt text |
Two letters, such as EN | The language of the linking page |
Which backlinks are worth having?
LinkMiner does not mark a backlink as good or bad. Link Strength is LinkMiner's one number for the power of a backlink. It considers Citation Flow, Trust Flow, the DoFollow or NoFollow attribute and other metrics, so it is the quickest way to compare rows.
Before you decide, click the row to open the linking page in the website preview. You can judge the page itself, and whether a link from it would fit your site. To keep a link for later, select its star. Both are in Filters, favorites and the website preview. To start a search, see Find a website's backlinks with LinkMiner.
