How AI Search Watcher works

AI Search Watcher checks how AI search engines and AI assistants talk about your brand.

Written by Dev + MKT

AI Search Watcher checks how AI search engines and AI assistants talk about your brand. You choose a brand, a website and the questions people ask AI, called prompts. Once a week, it asks each AI model you picked those prompts. It records whether your brand appears, where it is placed, and which websites the answers cite.

What is a monitor?

A monitor is one brand on one website, in one location and one language. Everything AI Search Watcher shows you belongs to a monitor: its prompts, its AI models and its results.

A monitor's location and language are permanent. You cannot change them after you create the monitor. To follow the same brand in another country, create a second monitor for that location. AI Search Watcher groups monitors with the same brand and website, and adds a location switcher so you can move between them.

You cannot create two monitors with the same brand, the same website and the same location.

What is a prompt?

A prompt is a question you want AI Search Watcher to ask the AI models, for example "best keyword research tool for small agencies". Choose questions your customers would really ask, in the monitor's language.

Your plan's prompts are one shared allowance for all your monitors. A prompt in one monitor uses the same allowance as a prompt in another. Deleting a prompt gives it back. AI Search Watcher limits: monitors and prompts has the numbers for each plan.

Which AI models does AI Search Watcher check?

You choose the AI models for each monitor under LLMs to monitor. The list includes ChatGPT Search, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Grok, Claude, Llama and Mistral. We can add or withdraw models over time, so the list in the app is the one that counts.

A new monitor starts with ChatGPT Search and Google AI Overviews selected. You can change the selection when you create the monitor, and later in Settings.

Removing an AI model from a monitor in Settings permanently deletes that model's earlier results for the monitor. The app asks you to confirm first.

How often do the results update?

AI Search Watcher checks every monitor once a week, on every plan. The date picker marks the scheduled checks with a dot (on Tuesdays) and the tooltip "Brand visibility update is scheduled".

When you add prompts or change a monitor's settings, AI Search Watcher shows a banner. It says you will see the new data after the next check on Tuesday, and that your earlier data stays as it was.

A brand-new monitor is the exception. It gets its first check when you create it, and the waiting screen says "This usually takes about 10 minutes." Why your monitor shows no data yet explains the waiting states.

Does AI Search Watcher ask each prompt more than once?

Yes. AI answers change from one run to the next, so AI Search Watcher runs each prompt more than once and combines the results. The AI Search Watcher Free and AI Search Watcher Pro pricing cards list "Multiple checks / prompt" with the badge "2×": each prompt is checked twice.

What do Position, Visibility and Score mean?

On the AI Search Watcher dashboard, the Top 10 brands and Top performing prompts tables show Position, Visibility and Score. In Top performing prompts, Visibility is the average across all tracked brands, not only yours. The Top 10 cited domains in responses table shows Citations and C. Rank.

  • Position: your brand's average place in the AI answers where it appears. Lower is better. In the prompt lists, a dash means the AI did not mention your brand. Those prompts are left out of the average.

  • Visibility: your brand's average visibility across all your prompts, in the AI models you selected.

  • Score: the AI Search Score, from 0 to 100. It combines visibility and position. The app labels the ranges: 0 to 59 Needs Improvement, 60 to 69 Fair, 70 to 79 Good, 80 to 89 Excellent, 90 to 100 Outstanding.

  • Citations: how many times the AI answers linked to a website, across all runs.

  • C. Rank: the average position of a cited website among the citations, across all runs. When you view several AI models, a model that did not cite the website counts one place below its last citation.

The app shows these definitions in tooltips. The exact formulas are not published.

Can you track competitors in AI Search Watcher?

There is no field for adding competitors to a monitor. Instead, the Top 10 brands table on the dashboard lists the brands the AI answers name for your prompts. Any competitor the AI mentions appears there, with its own position, visibility and score.

To follow one competitor in full detail, you can create a separate monitor with that competitor's brand and website. It uses a monitor and prompts from your allowance, like any other monitor.

Where to find things in the app

The menu on the left has seven sections: Brand dashboard, Prompts, Citations, Recommendations (marked Beta), Share & Looker Studio, API & MCP and Settings.

While a new monitor collects its first data, only Brand dashboard is available, and the Add prompts button is disabled. The other sections show a tooltip such as "Prompts unavailable while data is processing". All sections become available on their own when the first data arrives.

Which plans include AI Search Watcher?

Every SEO + AI plan (Basic, Premium and Agency) includes AI Search Watcher Pro, with 500 prompts and unlimited monitors. AI Search Watcher Pro is also sold on its own, with the same 500 prompts and unlimited monitors. AI Search Watcher Free has 5 prompts and 1 monitor. Limits as published on the pricing pages, 5 October 2026.
