Add, organize and export prompts

To add prompts to a monitor, select Add prompts at the top of the page.

Written by Dev + MKT

To add prompts to a monitor, select Add prompts at the top of the page. New prompts show no data until the next weekly check. On the Prompts page, you can group prompts with tags, export the ones you tick, and delete the ones you no longer need.

Add prompts to a monitor

  1. Open the monitor and select Add prompts, next to the number of prompts monitored.

  2. Type a prompt and press Enter. To add many at once, paste a column from a spreadsheet: each line becomes one prompt.

  3. To get ideas, select Suggest prompts. The AI suggestions replace the prompts in the box, so use it before you type your own.

  4. Optional: select Add tags to tag the new prompts.

  5. Check the counter, which shows how many prompts you entered and how many you have available.

  6. Select Add prompts.

AI Search Watcher confirms with "1 prompt added successfully" or, for several, "3 prompts added successfully". If you have no prompts left, or you enter more than you have available, AI Search Watcher shows "You've reached the limit of your plan." AI Search Watcher limits: monitors and prompts explains how to make room.

When do new prompts get data?

New prompts are checked at the next weekly check, on Tuesday. Until then they have no results. A banner says "You will see the updated ranking data after the next check on Tuesday. All your historical data will remain unchanged." Why your monitor shows no data yet covers the other waiting states.

Which prompts are accepted?

  • A prompt is 5 to 500 characters long.

  • Each prompt in a monitor must be different, even with different capital letters. A repeated prompt shows "This prompt already exists". A prompt already in the monitor shows "Some prompts already exist in this monitor. Please remove duplicates to continue."

  • When you paste a list, lines that are too short, too long or repeated are left out.

Write prompts in the monitor's language, as your customers would ask them.

Can you edit a prompt?

No. AI Search Watcher has no way to change a prompt's text. Delete the prompt and add the new wording instead. The new prompt starts without history and gets data at the next weekly check.

Delete prompts

On the Prompts page, tick the prompts and select the trash icon. The window warns "Be careful! They'll be gone forever." Confirm with Delete prompts forever. A deleted prompt cannot be restored. Deleted prompts go back to your allowance at once.

Organize prompts with tags

Tags group prompts in a monitor, for example by product or by topic. On the Prompts page, select Tags to show or hide the tag cards.

  1. To create a tag, select Create tag, type a name and select Create & Select prompts. If you ticked prompts first, they get the new tag.

  2. A tag without prompts shows Assign prompts on its card. Tick prompts in the list, then select it.

  3. To tag more prompts at once, tick them, select Manage tags, tick the tags and select Assign. Unassign removes the tags from the ticked prompts.

  4. To rename a tag, select the pencil next to it in Manage tags, type the new name and select Save.

  5. To delete a tag, select the trash icon next to it in Manage tags and confirm with Delete the tag.

A tag name is 2 to 40 characters and must be unique. "All prompts" is reserved. Deleting a tag removes only the tag: its prompts stay in the monitor.

The Prompts page with two prompts ticked and Manage tags open on Select tags, showing Create new tag, Unassign and Assign.

Filter by tag

Select a tag card to see only that tag's prompts. The Brand dashboard and Citations pages have the same tag filter, so you can see the metrics for one group. Recommendations always cover all your prompts.

How many tags can you create?

The number of tags has a limit, set on our side. When you reach it, creating a tag shows "You've reached the limit of your plan." Delete a tag you no longer use, or contact us if you need more.

Export prompts

On the Prompts page, tick the prompts you want, or tick the box in the header to select all. Then select Export. The button stays disabled until at least one prompt is ticked.

  • Copy prompts only copies the prompt texts, one per line.

  • Copy to clipboard copies the prompts with their metrics, ready to paste into a spreadsheet.

  • Export to CSV downloads a file with the same columns.

The export uses the AI models, dates and tag selected in the filters. To find prompts quickly, use the Search prompts box.
