AI Search Grader is a free tool that checks whether AI models recommend your brand when people ask about your niche. It generates prompts for your niche, asks up to six AI models, and gives you an AI Search Score from 0 to 100. Three models work without an account, and a free Mangools account adds the other three.
A grade is a one-off check. The grader keeps no history of your grades, and each run generates new prompts, so the score changes a little from run to run.
How do you grade a brand?
Open AI Search Grader. Before your first grade, the page shows an example result for another brand.
In Your brand (product or service), type the brand name.
In Description (niche), describe what the brand is, for example "keyword research tool". If you are not sure, tick Autosuggest instead and the grader proposes the niche.
Select Grade My Brand.
While the grader works, it shows "Analyzing Your Brand's AI Visibility" and four steps. The steps move on a timer, not with the real progress, so the analysis can still be running after the last step appears.
AI Search Grader has no language or location setting. You enter only the brand and the description.
Which AI models does the grader use?
AI Search Grader uses six AI models, not seven. Three work for everyone, and three need you to be signed in to a Mangools account. A free account is enough.
Model | Version | Who can use it |
ChatGPT | OpenAI GPT-5 Nano | Everyone |
Mistral | Mistral Small 3.2 24B | Everyone |
Llama | Meta Llama 3.3 70B Instruct | Everyone |
DeepSeek | DeepSeek V3 | Signed in |
Claude | Claude Haiku 4.5 | Signed in |
Gemini | Google Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite | Signed in |
If you are not signed in, the three other models show a "Login!" tag. Their rows in the prompts table are blurred and marked "Unlock for FREE!". These blurred rows are sample prompts, not your results. A model that failed during your run shows a red "Error" tag instead.
How to read the AI Search Score
The AI Search Score is your brand's overall score, from 0 to 100. It combines how often the AI models name your brand (visibility) and how high they place it (position). The Aggregated results table ranks brands by Weighted Score, which gives each model a weight based on that AI search engine's estimated market share. Your brand's Weighted Score in that table is the same number as the AI Search Score in the results banner.
AI Search Grader labels the score in five bands:
AI Search Score | Label |
0 to 20 | poor |
21 to 40 | below average |
41 to 60 | average |
61 to 80 | above average |
81 to 100 | outstanding |
Why the score differs from AI Search Watcher's
AI Search Watcher also shows an AI Search Score from 0 to 100, but its bands are different. In AI Search Watcher, 0 to 59 is Needs Improvement and 90 to 100 is Outstanding. So the same number can carry a different label in the two tools.
The two tools also measure differently. AI Search Grader runs once, on new prompts it generates each time. AI Search Watcher checks the prompts you choose, every week. See AI Search Watcher metrics: Position, Visibility, AI Search Score and Citations.
What the results tables show
The Analyzed prompts table lists each generated prompt, with the model that answered it:
Avg. Position: your brand's average place in the answers to that prompt.
Visibility: the percentage of answers that name your brand.
Score: a score from 0 to 100 for that prompt, based on visibility and position.
Select a prompt to see the brands named in its answers. Below the prompts, the Aggregated results table lists the top 20 brands across all prompts. Your competitors appear there, and Grade brand next to one grades that brand.
Why do your results change each time?
AI Search Grader generates a new set of prompts for every run, so two grades of the same brand give slightly different results. The grader itself recommends running it again for an overall picture.
If your brand appears in 20% of the prompts or fewer, the grader shows a warning. It asks you to check that the description and the prompts fit your brand.
Under Brand perception, each model describes your brand and suggests Alternative descriptions (niches). Select Analyze next to one to grade your brand again with that description.
Does a grade use up anything?
Yes. Every run counts toward the grader's own allowance of free searches. That includes Analyze, Grade brand, and opening a grader link that already holds a brand and a description, because the link runs a new grade.
When the searches run out, a visitor who is not signed in sees "You're out of free searches in AI Search Grader". A signed-in user sees "You've used all of your searches. Please upgrade, or wait for the counters to reset." See Mangools free SEO tools and their limits.
"Something went wrong"
AI Search Grader shows "Something went wrong" when the grade could not be completed. Select Grade My Brand again. If it keeps failing, contact us at [email protected] and include the "Detail:" line under the message.
Track your brand every week
Open a prompt and select Monitor your brand for free to start an AI Search Watcher monitor with your brand filled in. You still check the rest of the monitor settings and choose the prompts. See Create a monitor in AI Search Watcher.
